Invisalign

A lot of our patients are interested in getting straighter teeth, but do not want to go with the route of typical braces. Much of the feedback we have gotten, especially from our adult patients, is a lack of interest in metal brackets due to cosmetic reasons.

Many patients are interested in a straight appearance in their smile and in many cases these patients can achieve their goal in a very short period of time. Some patients are more involved cases and never had the chance to get braces when they were younger.

Our biggest advice to our patients, is that if your teeth keep you from smiling, it is definitely an investment that will change your life.

Invisalign offers a way to get the desired straight smile without the embarrassment of metal brackets. Some cases can be completed in a short amount of time and it is often more comfortable than braces.

You can also customize the use of Invisalign with your lifestyle. Liners can be removed for eating and for activities, such as sports.

At Stanford Dental, we warn our patients to stay away from the competitors that promise a straight smile without appointments with a dentist. This is an extremely risky way and could cause long term, expensive damage. If not done with a professional, clear aligners could cause terrible jaw issues and even uproot teeth. It is very important that a dentist helps you along the way to check your bite as you go.

If you are a candidate for Invisalign, be ready for a discrete and convenient way to get that beautiful smile you've always dreamed about!

Invisalign are ‘invisible aligners’ that help correct dental problems including crowded teeth, spacing, bite, and much more!

Why choose Invisalign over traditional braces?

No food adjustments are required! You can easily eat and drink whatever you want. Make sure to remove the aligners while consuming food. They are very easy to clean unlike traditional braces where you have to clean around brackets. Invisalign allows you to remove your aligners when brushing your teeth. You can then clean your aligners with warm water and toothpaste before placing them back in.

Invisalign also requires less appointments unlike traditional braces. Metal braces require a dental office visit for tightening the rubber bands or wires. Invisalign gives you more freedom to enjoy activities while ensuring the teeth repositioning and alignment progress. During the Invisalign treatment, you receive aligner trays for the current phase and the several phases. This allows you to move onto the next phase without another doctor visit.

Invisalign allows your treatment to look less noticeable unlike metal braces with their clear aligners. Most people will not recognize you have Invisalign unless you tell them.

Invisalign provides more comfort. You can easily remove your aligner trays for eating, brushing, and flossing. Traditional braces work by the brackets and wires causing tension to reposition the teeth. The tightening of the brackets causes soreness until the tension lessens, resulting in a cycle of discomfort. Invisalign decreases the discomfort of pain by not having your gums, tongue and cheeks scraping against metal.

Dental issues will vary person to person. Invisalign can correct many dental problems including:

●      Crowded Teeth

●      Crossbite

●      Gap Teeth

●      Misaligned Teeth

●      Open bite

●      Overbite

●      Underbite

The use of orthodontics helps bite and crowding issues, which helps to decrease the rate of cavities and gum disease. Scheduling an appointment with your dental professional to discuss your treatment options is recommended. Invisalign is safe for children, adolescents, and adults. However, most dentists will recommend for a child to wait until they are 13-14 before using Invisalign due to the responsibility of maintenance.
